White As Snow

“Come now, let’s settle this,” says the LORD.  “Though your sins are like scarlet, I will make them as white as snow.  Though they are red like crimson, I will make them as white as wool.” – Isaiah 1:18

As I gaze out my window this frosty morning, everything is covered with a blanket of freshly fallen snow.  Once the snowplows appear, the scene will start to get a little dirty, but for now it looks clean.

Freshly fallen snow is an image of what our dark hearts look like after we have been forgiven by God.  When Jesus shed His blood on the cross for my sins and yours, He made it possible for our hearts to be cleansed bright white.  When we confess our sin to God and ask for His forgiveness, He graciously makes our hearts as white as show.  What can wash away my sin?  Nothing – but the blood of Jesus!
